ABOUT ALFIE PETERS - Type 1 Diabetic Racing Cyclist
In 2012 Alfie Peters was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes this was a massive blow to Alfie’s self-confidence in both his private life and his Racing. Due to the lack of understanding surrounding his condition and the inability to get any straight answers from the NHS Alfie very nearly packed up Cycling until Alf’s parents who had heard of Ian Rees asked if he would talk with their son and explain that if managed correctly and he worked hard as Ian has done over the years Alfie could manage his condition and once again be a bright prospect for the future in Cycling. To say the meeting worked is rather an understatement!! Alfie has earned himself an Olympic Development Cycling Apprenticeship in 2014 and his results have been outstanding for 2014 with National ranking of 16th with 15 Wins, 7 Second places. Alfie was also the Overall Series Winner – Devon Circuit Series, Overall Winner – East Devon Circuit Series, Overall Winner – Cornish Series National Youth Series with 3 top 10 results and points scored in 5 of 6 rounds.
